BALI, Indonesia, 12 December 2007 -- As part of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Bali, Indonesia, UNICEF held a series of events to highlight the effects of global warming on children and to ensure that young people are involved in debate on this issue.

At a panel discussion, international delegates discussed the impact of climate change on children, particularly those living in less developed countries.

The story of the indigenous people, Achuar, who live in a remote and pristine part of the Amazon rain forest in southeastern Ecuador. The Achuar had no contact with the outside world until the early 1970's but now they are forced to band together and protect their forests and delicate environment from oil developers.

During the monsoons, the roads wash out for weeks at a time and the electricity goes out. In this video villagers learn who is responsible for fixing these problems. We also see the government taking action and fixing broken roads because they were 'exposed' on camera.

Residents of the Lower Ninth Ward and Chalmette, two destroyed areas, tell how they have survived without promised help from the U.S. government. Chocolate City features the Common Ground Collective, an NGO in the Ninth Ward that provides relief and organizes against government efforts to take over homes, especially in Black-owned areas.
