REFUGE?, shot by WITNESS partner Rencontre Africaine pour la Défense des Droits de l'Homme (RADDHO), with music and narration by Philip Hamilton, documents the social and economic conditions of Mauritanian, Liberian and Sierra Leonean refugees in Senegal. This video was screened at a briefing during the 2000 ExCom meeting of the UNHCR.

Abigail Disney produced Gini Reticker's award-winning film . WITNESS presented our second annual WITNESS Award at Silverdocs Documentary Film Festival to "Pray the Devil Back to Hell" in June 2008.

The film details a coalition of Christian and Muslim women in Liberia who created a movement for peace to help end the country's civil war.

I spoke briefly with Abigail who was there to collect the award about why she and Gini made the film and what kind of outreach they are planning.

Nahr al-Bared Camp: Cleaning Up

The first few hundred Palestinian families were allowed to return to their destroyed or damaged homes at the outskirts of Nahr al-Bared Camp in winter 2007/08. They faced a very difficult situation. Many of them lost their homes and most of their property was either destroyed or stolen.
This short video documents the refugee's experiences once they returned to their camp and their efforts to deal with their new reality.

For security reasons, only an anonymized version of the film is published.

Produced by WITNESS in collaboration with Burma Issues, the video documents use of forced labor in three different areas in 2003 and offers an insight into the impossible choices facing ordinary civilians of all ethnicities under the military dictatorship in Burma.
