About Breakthrough

Breakthrough is an international organization that creates original media and uses education and popular culture to transform public attitudes and teach human rights.
We encourage a culture of human rights through the following avenues:

* Music, art, performance, television and media for social change.

* Our interactive website, www.breakthrough.tv, which is an educational and entertaining forum packed with ideas for action.

* Public forums and workshops.

* Multi-media educational materials.

Our current campaign in the U.S focuses on immigration. Unfair immigration laws deny due process and violate human rights. These laws affect all immigrants: legal residents, those fleeing persecution, students and undocumented people. We have video stories, animations, speeches and a video game (www.homelandgitmo.com) that we have produced to illustrate this injustice.

Uncover what's going on behind immigration detention center walls- Experience Gitmo: www.homelandgitmo.com

India:

Our current campaign in India,"Bell Bajao" aims to bring attention to the growing incidences of domestic violence faced by women in India.

Breakthrough works through partner offices in the United States and India, the two world’s largest democracies. We believe that the promise of both countries lies in building secular, democratic and multi-cultural societies that ensure human rights for all.
