After more than 30 years of operations Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation (RTNMC) has brought little benefits to the local economy, also in terms of excise tax shares to the Provincial Government. The majority of indigenous Palawan, who have been directly impacted by mining operations, are seldom employed by the company. Forms of assistance provided by the company to the impacted communities are minimal, compared to the damage causes by the destruction of their cultural landscape and loss of traditional livelihood.
