 <title>Professor David Brotherton: Deported to the D.R.</title>
 <link>http://hub.witness.org/fr/node/5028</link>
 <description>&lt;p&gt;David Brotherton, Professor of Sociology at John Jay College in New York City, has done extensive research on the effects of deportation. In his interview with Breakthrough, he reveals how his work led him to the Dominican Republic to interview men that had lived in the United States for 30 years legally, only to be detained and deported for minor crimes. These men were forced to return to a place where they had no ties, separated from their families, and subjected to the shame and ridicule of being a &quot;deportee.&quot;&lt;/p&gt;
