On October 26, 2006, riot police were called to restore order in a private college in Jiang-Xi province.

The students from the Vocational College said that the school authorities had deceived new students about their eventual qualifications and issued fake diplomas. They started rioting.

2006 年10月21日，南昌的江西贛江職業技術學院三千名大學生聚集在校方辦公樓的外面要求校方給與答覆。校方的答覆是將以兩年製的中專文憑代替三年製的大專文憑，這一答覆引起學生的不滿和憤怒。一些學生開始對教學大樓、宿舍及食堂等進行大肆破壞，以宣泄怒氣。騷亂造成八間辦公室及三輛車被砸壞，直至22日淩晨，江西當局數千防暴警察鎮壓才平息事端。

24日，另一家私立學院江西南昌服裝學院也發生更大規模暴動。五千多名學生情緒激動，放火焚燒教學樓、宿舍及汽車。在這兩起衝突事件中，至少有20人受傷，至少有五人被公安拘捕。

江西南昌職業學院學生更揚言發動萬人大遊行活動。江西當局29日增調大批武警、公安，荷槍實彈進駐校園戒備，校外則停泊數十輛軍車，萬人大遊行活動也因此難產
