A WALK TO BEAUTIFUL tells the riveting stories of five Ethiopian women who suffer from obstetric fistula, a devastating injury caused by obstructed labor during childbirth. Rejected by their husbands and ostracized by their communities, these young women have been abandoned to lives of loneliness and shame. The film follows their journeys to the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital to reclaim their lost dignity. The trials they endure—and their determination to rebuild their lives—tell a universal story of hope, courage and transformation. Through the women’s own eyes and in their own voices, a larger story emerges: that of the seemingly intractable problems facing women in the developing world, including undernutrition, child marriage and lack of obstetric care.
