In 2001 a group of 11 Indonesian citizens won the right to take Exxon Mobil to court for human rights abuses. They allege that Exxon employed military, some of whom raped, tortured and killed villagers in the area. It took 5 years to get it to court but the case will be heard in the US courts in 2008
