On the midnight of 30th December 2005, and while media correspondents, HR activists, UN officials were out of Cairo for the New Year vacations; the Egyptian security forces raided a sudanese refugees camp launched on a public park infront of UNHCR office demanding promised resettlement, re-opening closed files, and resumption of refugees financial allowance.

The camp hosted more than 1200 refugee and was raided by some 5000 soldier.

The refugees were showered with warm and cold water from 3 water cannons alternatively in the cold early morning hours of December.

They were completely circled by thick lines of soldiers and there was no way out of the trop.

Finally, at 5 am December 31st, soldiers raided the camp from all sides, beat, stampede, scared, humilated, tortured the refugees finally killing morethan 30 of them and detaining more than 600 in very bad health conditions.

I followed the massacre from its very begining till the end.
