Gutom sa Hustisya

Gutom sa Hustisya is a short observational film on food security in Isla Verde, Davao, particularly within the Badjao community. It was produced by Leah Grace Navarro, Rosel Susan Serrano, Daisy Bell Devilleres, Ian Julius de Castro, and Shany Lou Solatorio ("Group C") during the 2009 OVP Intensive Visual Media Training in Davao, Philippines.
The short highlights the views of Dima Gatdula, Alsan Kandi, and Salih Sala, and their personal experiences with regard to the lack of access to (fresh) food.

Description:

"For the past few years and up to the present, the Badjao residing in Isla Verde, Davao city, have experienced hunger. This is a result of lack of food. The shortage of nutrition and low quality food are indicators of poor living conditions. The government has defaulted their responsibility of addressing food security provisions which is part of their basic rights as human beings."

Bisaya:

Organization for Visual Progression

The Organization for Visual Progression (OVP) is dedicated to providing individuals and organizations with the opportunity to create and utilize visual media in their advocacy efforts and social justice campaigns.

Our goals are threefold: to amplify voices, amplify issues, and to promote alternative media infrastructures.

We amplify voices by offering intensive visual media advocacy trainings to community leaders, NGO representatives and university students working to bring about progressive social change in areas marginalized by established media infrastructures. OVP also supports participants in the production and distribution of visual media productions.

We amplify marginalized issues by collaborating with university students, communities and social justice organizations in the creation, distribution, and contextualization of visual media productions.

Our ultimate goal is to promote alternative media infrastructures that allow people and organizations excluded from existing media infrastructures to communicate with target audiences.
