A peace agreement, signed last January, ended nearly two decades of civil war in southern Sudan and attracted billions of dollars of foreign investment into the country.
A massive reconstruction project is fuelling an economic boom and helping Sudan shake off the stranglehold of the global recession.
But many Sudanese people are unable to take advantage of the opportunities. Al Jazeera's Mohammed Adow reports. (March 11, 2009).
