'Status of Africa' is a Facebook app that we've (a little team here at BBH London) developed for the charity AMREF (African Medical & Research Foundation). The application gives you the chance to lend your status to one of seven Africans for 5 days, providing a platform which will reveal the realities of daily life in Africa - the struggles and hardships, the joys and the progress. It's designed to raise awareness of AMREF's on the ground work in Africa - a 97% African national staffed charity, who have been working to make a difference to the lives of the poorest people for over 50 years. It has been live for a couple of days, and getting good webchatter (these are a couple of screengrabs of such), but we need more, and participants on Facebook too! We are uploading this to The Hub to ask that if any members are on Facebook they could potentially take part and help us spread the word - the updates are automatic twice a day, so you can still over-ride the app and speak as yourselves on Facebook as well. You can link your Twitter account to spread the status updates too, and even lend your Facebook profile picture to your chosen African. Please find below a link to the app:http://apps.facebook.com/statusofafrica Or maybe we could ask to borrow any members' influence on Twitter - perhaps with a Tweet about the app containing a bit.ly version of the above link?Any help you as a community feel you could offer, from blog mentions to interview plugs would be fantastic and much appreciated. If you need any more information, please don't hesitate to contact me at BBH Tel: 00 44 (0)207 734 1677, or Victoria Rugg at AMREF. Tel: 00 44 (0)207 269 5520. Email: info@amrefuk.org
