On May 22, 2009, a fire took place at the Armadale Juvenile Correctional Center in St. Ann Jamaica, which resulted in the death of 7 girls. The facility, designed to house 45 juveniles, housed 70 juveniles on the night of the fire. 23 teen-aged girls were told to share a room measuring 20 ft. x 12 ft. x 10 ft.A group of students and young professionals in Minnesota decided to create a video to raise the awareness of child neglect under Jamaican state care. We ask individuals to sign a petition that will be sent to the Prime Minister of Jamaica and the Director of Public Prosecutions to request that all children are removed from adult lock ups. The link to the petition is below:http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/End-child-neglect-in-Jamaica
