In July 2009, 3 US holidaymakers were captured by Iranian border guards whilst they were on a hiking trip in Iraqi Kurdistan. They were transferred to Evin Prison in Tehran where they have been held, uncharged, ever since. For a variety of reasons it was decided for the first 8 months of their captivity to hold back talking about who the three friends, Sarah Shourd, Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal, really were.Free Me, made in collaboration with family and friends of the '3 Hikers' gives a glimpse into ~ The Real Hikers.Set to music by activist musician Jackson Browne it features footage of the 3 at work in Darfur, Syria and the USASince the film was first released the mothers of Sarah, Shane and Josh were allowed a 2 day visa to visit them in Iran.Since that visit no progress as been made in obtaining their release.
