Burma Matters Now

Details:
Decades of human rights abuses have established the Burmese dictatorship as a world leader. The demand here is for grassroots reporting that visually reveals what is really going on inside Burma. Burma Matters Now has spent the past five years fielding critical communications and photographic equipment, as well as providing training to various activists and ethnic groups. We continue to train and empower activists and ethnic groups who work to collect video, photos and human rights abuses across Burma. At our field office in Thailand we disseminate the information brought to us by documentation teams; this information is then used to inform, educate and raise awareness across the world and is delivered through multi media channels. “Truth visually revealed, is a force more powerful." Whilst informing and educating the outside world is a focus of our advocacy, we also look to target specific groups inside Burma with information that will help the most vulnerable. The lack of information flow within the country stops people understanding what is really going on, the government’s control of media outlets allows them to regularly mislead the population and further subjugate them.
