This month, 24,000 people traveled to Mexico City from all over the world to participate in the XVII International AIDS Conference.

The conference ended with a strong call for human rights be placed at the center of the global fight against HIV-AIDS.

This means fighting for the end of stigmatization and criminalization of those living with HIV-AIDS, providing universal access to treatment, caring for the marginalized groups most likely to be left out of mainstream health programs (such as men who have sex with men, sex workers, prisoners, orphans), and holding governments accountable to the promises made in the Declaration to Commitment on HIV-AIDS as well as to the principles set forth by the UDHR.

During the conference, WITNESS organized a participatory video project in collaboration with the Open Society Institute's Public Health Program and trained more than 25 activists from over 20 countries on techniques for using video as a tool for advocacy in their own initiatives.

This compilation video - shown at the Now More Than Ever Human Rights rally that closed the conference - brings a summary of their work.

To learn more and get involved, read the Now More Than Ever 10-point declaration (already endorsed by more than 600 organizations from 105 countries) on why human rights are so important to help reverse the AIDS pandemic.
