Dozens of people have been killed or injured in an Israeli air strike on a building near the southern Lebanese town of Qana. Local emergency workers said there were many children among the casualties
There are reports that 21 of those killed are children. It is thought that disabled children were sheltering in the three-storey building with their mothers
Lebanese prime minister Fouad Siniora has called for an "immediate unconditional ceasefire" in the wake of the deaths and denounced the Israelis as "war criminals".
A human rights group says the Israeli air strike on Qana that killed 54 civilians is a "war crime
Human Rights Watch accused the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) of treating southern Lebanon as a "free-fire zone
It said the failure to distinguish between civilians and combatants could be judged as a war crime, and called for an UN probe into the conflict.
