As Barack Obama begins his first week as the 44th President of the United States, the world looks on with the hope that he will work to restore human rights - on issues like torture, immigration, Guantanamo Bay, and many others.
We're highlighting some of these issues this week and, today - as President Obama signed an order to close the Guantanamo Bay detention facilities, prohibit torture, and end the practice of secret detentions - we bring you excerpts of Outlawed: Extraordinary Rendition, Torture and Disappearances in the 'War on Terror.'
Produced in partnership with 14 organizations, Outlawed follows the story of Binyam Mohamed, a 23-year-old Ethiopian man who was detained in 2001 and later transferred to Guantanamo. (Watch the full version of Outlawed here and more videos on Guantanamo here).
