Welcome to the WITNESS Hub, the global channel for human rights, and to the dedicated section focused on HIV/AIDS media, part of the Cultural Programme for AIDS08.
Feature your videos and advocacy work on the Hub, and share it with
the global HIV/AIDs community as well as attendees at the AIDS08
Conference
Who we are: WITNESS is a human rights organisation that uses video and online technologies to open the eyes of the world to human rights violations. For 15 years, WITNESS has worked with hundreds of organisations in over 70 countries to help them incorporate video into their advocacy.
AIDS08 Online: This dedicated section of the Hub provides an opportunity for the global activist and cultural community to participate in building a kaleidoscopic picture of HIV/AIDS activism and media-making around the world.
To see some current, featured videos and groups, check-out our AIDS 2008 Group page.
In Mexico City: Join us in the Community Media networking zone to view human rights video focused on HIV/AIDS, learn to use video for advocacy, and film and upload video and audio to the Hub.
We'll also be training rights advocates to film key testimonies during the VAI. These will be uploaded here during the conference, and circulated to the Hub community of human rights activists, journalists and academics; simultaneously they will be available to other interested communities worldwide and to other physical Conference Hub.
Join us: We invite you to create a profile here on the Hub to feature your work and begin to connect with other participants. We will be featuring HIV/AIDS-related videos before and during the conference; so, if you have video already, upload it to the Hub. The hundreds of human rights-related media on the Hub have been seen over 7 million times and we have had nearly 25 million hits since our launch in December.
It is easy to get started featuring your work on the Hub, which will help you:
- Reach a broad audience interested in human rights and your HIV/AIDS-related work
- Highlight your organization, projects and campaigns
- Network with other advocates, filmmakers, groups, and advocates
- Participate on the rapidly evolving first global channel for human rights
We look forward to seeing you in Mexico City! Thank you for your work and we look forward to featuring your work on the Hub. We hope you will join us in building this online archive of testimony to, of and about rights-based HIV/AIDS cultural and political activism!
Best wishes,
Sam Gregory, Program Director
Bukeni Waruzi, Program Coordinator for Africa and the Middle East
